TAKING PLACE ON SUNDAY: Super Bowl XLVI
SUPER BOWL XLVI sees the New York Giants take on the New England Patriots for the Vince Lombardi trophy, on Sunday evening (Feb 5) in Indianapolis.
Former Kansas City Chiefs player, Brian Walters will be one man hoping that the Patriots can take the trophy after moving to the club before the season started.
After 11 years at the Chiefs where he never won a play-off game, Walters hopes that Sunday brings a victory.
The guard said: “You just only get so many opportunities at it. I knew that as I got older, that the chances were getting slimmer and slimmer.”
The game is a re-match of the 2008 competition, when the Giants won 17-14 and Eli Manning was voted MVP.
Victor Cruz will be hoping to show how far he has progressed in his two years at the Giants. The wide receiver has had a fairytale story in the NFL, going from a virtual unknown to playing in his first Super Bowl.
Cruz agrees with the pundits that the pitch should be perfect for his style of play. “Anytime you get a chance to play on turf and play on a fast track and be able to run your routes and not worry about weather, slippery conditions or anything like that, it’s always a plus, especially for receivers.”
