Gladys Knight & The Four Tops to headline Franklin memorial

GLADYS KNIGHT, The Four Tops and Johnny Gill will headline the Aretha Franklin memorial, which takes place in Detroit, Michigan next week.

A total of 23 acts are set to hit the stage to pay tribute to the late Queen of Soul as she past away on August 16 after losing her battle with pancreatic cancer

According to a performers list, obtained by TMZ, Ron Isley, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Jenifer Lewis, Stevie Wonder, Yolanda Adams, Fantasia and Angie Stone will also hit the stage, alongside members of the soul legend's family, while sources reveal Nation of Islam leader Dr. Lewis Farrakhan is attending as a guest.

Notable gospel stars, including Marvin Sapp and Vanessa Bell Armstrong will also be performing while The Aretha Franklin Choir and the Aretha Franklin Celebration Choir are also on the programme.

The memorial takes place at the Chene Park Amphitheatre and Franklin's body will lie in repose between 9am and 9pm on August 28 and 29, where mourners will be able to attend the open casket viewing at the city’s Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History.

In a statement following her death, Franklin’s family said: “We have lost the matriarch and rock of our family. The love she had for her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins knew no bounds.”
