Gospel singer Israel Houghton to wed TV host Adrienne Bailon

ENGAGED: Israel Houghton and Adrienne Bailon

GRAMMY Award-winning gospel star Israel Houghton and TV host Adrienne Bailon are engaged four months after going public with their relationship.

The Real host shared the good news on social media by uploading an image of her eight-carat emerald cut diamond ring to Instagram with the caption: “You. Me. Oui.”

In a lengthy post on Instagram, Houghton, 45, gushed about his bride-to-be. He wrote: "I have seen and felt the essence of Gods grace through the life, the kindness and the courage of this woman.

"I've seen her attacked, lied about, wrongfully accused, mocked, laughed at, and misunderstood.

"But, I've also seen the shining example of the eagle she is that rises above the cacophony of the noise of ignorants - I'm learning from her example."

His post continued, "She loves Jesus. She loves her family. She loves people. Even the ones that don't love her back. I pray God give me that same grace in my life. I've taken a giant leap of faith in asking her to share life with me forever and to give me a shot at getting it right this time... She has graciously granted my request... She said yes."

Houghton ended his post by thanking his fiancée "for graciously loving me."

Bailon and Houghton have been vacationing across Europe, sharing snaps of their travels which includes stops in Santorini, Mykonos and Paris, where Houghton is believed to have popped the question.

The father-of-four made sure to fly in his soon to be in-laws who joined the couple for celebrations in Paris.

The pair started dating earlier this year when they confirmed their relationship this past April after photos surfaced of them holidaying in Mexico.

They immediately faced a slew of criticism about the timing of their relationship as Houghton had filed for divorce from his estranged wife of 20 years just one month prior.

“I met Adrienne Bailon a bit over 2 years ago, we worked together and became friends,” he wrote at the time.

“Our circles connected and we remained good friends. From a friendship, as two single adults we have very recently begun to explore a dating relationship.”

Houghton added: “As I previously wrote in a statement I released a while back, my marriage had been over for quite some time before going public with my divorce announcement.”

As for Bailon, the host took to her date-time show to address the rumours.

"I think I'm more than anything grateful that I have a platform like this, where I can be with my girls. The show is called ‘The Real’ it is a place where we can speak about the truth," Bailon explained.

"With that being said, the man pictured here is not married. Praise God."

The former 3LW singer was engaged last year to Roc Nation music boss Lenny Santiago before calling quits on their relationship in September 2015.
