Group of girls wanted on suspicion of assault and robbery

SUSPECTS: Three girls

THREE GIRLS are wanted by police on suspicion of assaulting a teenager and stealing her iPhone on a bus heading to Birmingham city centre last month.

CCTV footage showed the 17-year-old girl being attacked by thieves who punched her in the head before prising the phone from her grasp as she travelled on the number 22 bus along Broad Street on January 2 between 6.00pm and 6.15pm.

The three offenders were pictured running off the bus as it came to a stop in Broad Street and disappeared from view into Sheepcote Street.

The victim suffered bruising to her head and back following the robbery.

"This was a frightening attack for the victim as the three girls ganged up on her,” said Detective Constable Alan Hands, from Birmingham West and Central CID.
