GHANA STRIKER and captain Asamoah Gyan has expressed his satisfaction over the decision for Avram Grant to be made the new head coach of the Black Stars.

The 54-year-old Israeli manager has been all but confirmed as the national boss, with only personal terms to be agreed in a two-year deal.

Former Sunderland forward Gyan, who now is playing for United Arab Emirates club Al Ain, spoke highly of Grant’s managerial record and was excited to experience his first training session under the ex-Chelsea boss.

The 28-year-old player said: “He’s coached one of the best teams in the world before, everybody knows him on the world scene.

“We just can’t wait for our first training with him. I am sure we will abide by his tactics.

“Everything he brings on board, we will make sure we abide by it.”

Gyan added: “We are working for the nation and he is going to be our boss so we have to listen to him.

“He is going to be our coach and we welcome him to Ghana as a new coach of the Black Stars.”

The frontman also backed CAF officials for deciding to go ahead with the original start date of the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, despite the host country’s fears of the Ebola virus spreading.

“For me, I think the African Cup should proceed, it has to be played whether in Morocco or anywhere”, he said.

“I heard stories about cancelling the tournament and I don’t think it is a good thing to cancel the tournament.

“What I think is we should just support the countries that have been affected by the disease and to move on.”
