Hackney keen to find out the impact of London 2012

PROUD: The east London borough played a major role during the Olympic Games

HACKNEY COUNCIL is to present a free interactive exhibition on September 3-4 that will explore the legacy impact of the 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games on Hackney and East London.

'The Place, The Community, The Future' will take place at Hackney House on Shoreditch High Street and aims to give an insight into what East London and the Olympic Park will look like and will explore benefits to the community and to businesses.

All exhibitors have been involved in the development of the Olympic & Paralympic Park, in the development of 2012 venues for future use or in delivering legacy projects now in the Olympic fringe.

Jules Pipe, Mayor of Hackney, said: "East Londoners can be proud that they have played a big part in making the 2012 Games the best ever but, in the long term, the success of these Games depends on the delivery of a sustainable legacy for the area.

"We are working hard to ensure the promises that were made to bring the Games to London are delivered in a way that has lasting benefit to the residents of Hackney. We want to share our vision and talk to local people about the opportunities and the future of our borough .

“I hope that many Hackney and East London residents will come along to find out more about how we are capitalising on the success of the Games."

Exhibitors will include: The London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) - responsible for the development of the Olympic Park after the Games; iCity - preferred bidders for the legacy transformation of the Press and Broadcast Centres; East Village London - converting the 2012 Athletes Village into 2,818 homes, designed to the highest environmental and space standards by 16 world renowned architects and Loughborough University - a key educational and technology partner in the iCity media centre bid.
