Halle Berry's stalker jailed

PEACE: Actress Halle Berry's stalker has been slapped with a year jail term

A MAN who broke into actress Halle Berry's LA home has been sentenced to one year in prison.

Richard Franco, who was arrested last year outside the star's mansion, is believed to have broken into Berry's property three times in the same weekend.

The 27-year-old reached a plea agreement with prosecutors after pleading guilty to a felony stalking charge. The prosecution agreed to drop a felony burglary charge.

Franco was sentenced to 365 days behind bars, but he will only serve half of his sentence because he has already spent 193 days in custody.

At Berry's request, her three-year restraining order against Franco has been upgraded to 10 years and he has been ordered to stay at least 200 yards away from the Oscar winner and her three-year-old daughter Nahla during this period.

Upon his release he will also have to complete a one-year psychological programme and have to see out a five-year probation order.
