Hasselbaink in talks over Burton job

IN TALKS: Hasselbaink (PA)

BURTON ALBION are understood to be in talks with Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink about hiring him as manager.

The 42-year-old former Chelsea forward, who coached at Nottingham Forest for 18 months, is reported to be one of the frontrunners for the Burton top job.

Following the departure of manager Gary Rowett, who has taken charge of Birmingham, Sky Sports reports that the League Two side are seeking an experienced assistant to work alongside Hasselbaink, who has only once previously been manager when he had the hot seat at Royal Antwerp, a role he left after his contract expired in May this year.

Burton are currently fifth in League Two and have installed head of youth coach Mike Whitlow as caretaker manager.
