'Hot Convict' Jeremy Meeks plans modelling career from jail

A CALIFORNIAN criminal dubbed the 'Hot Convict' is preparing for his future modelling career from behind bars.

Jeremy Meeks, also known as the 'Smooth Criminal' and the 'Handsome Felon' became an internet sensation after his mugshot was shared by the Stockton Police department on Facebook following his arrest last June.

Last month, Meeks was sentenced to 27 months of prison on weapon charges, but is hoping for a November release that accounts for time served and good behaviour.

He told ABC News that he’s eager to serve out his sentence and is looking ahead to starting a career in modelling and acting.

“I’m in a place where I will be able to provide for my family and really change my life,” Meeks said from his Nevada prison.

“I never thought that everyone in the world would recognise me for my looks, so I feel extremely blessed and very thankful."

Meeks is now working with agent Jim Jordan of White Cross Management and said he plans to take full advantage of his viral fame.

In preparation for his release and breakout into modeling, the blue-eyed criminal said that he is working on his physique.

“I eat healthy. I do a lot of push-ups, pull-ups, dips, burpees, and I stay very active,” said Meeks.

His agent Jordan is confident that Meeks’ notoriety can propel him into a successful career.

“There is a sea of opportunities waiting for him,” Jordan said, who is working to set Meeks up with “modelling agencies around the world, endorsement deals and reality show interests.”
