Husband charged with wife's murder and rape

NOT FORGOTTEN: Family has paid an emotional tribute to Juliet Edwards who was found stabbed at her home

A HUSBAND has been charged with the murder and rape of his wife in the Moss Side area of Manchester.

Melvyn Edwards, 58, of Great Western Street, was arrested and questioned by police earlier this week.

He appeared at Manchester Crown Court today (July 28) accused of murdering 48-year-old Juliet Edwards at her home.

The "kind-hearted" mother and grandmother was found stabbed at her home on Saturday, July 23, and died later in hospital.

Police said the incident at the house, in Great Western Street, was believed to be "domestic-related".

A postmortem found she had suffered a single stab wound to the neck.

DEVASTATED

In a statement, her heartbroken family paid tribute to her.

They said: "We are devastated by the tragic loss of our mother.

"She was a wonderful, loving, caring mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and friend with a kind heart and a generous nature. We want justice for her, she did not deserve this.

"Her memory will live with us forever and she will never be forgotten."

A 21-year-old man, also arrested on suspicion of murder, was released without charge.
