CONFESSION: Michael and Whitney Houston
THE BROTHER of late superstar Whitney Houston has admitted that he was the one who helped her to become addicted to drug crack, in a recent interview with Oprah.
During his appearance on Oprah’s Next Chapter, which is his first televised interview since his sister’s passing almost a year ago, Michael Houston confessed that he was the first person to do crack cocaine with the singer in the eighties.
He said: "You gotta understand at the time…the '80s…it was acceptable. It’s painful…I feel responsible for what I let go so far."
Michael also confessed that he turned to drugs to while mourning Whitney's death but he has now been clean for the last three months.
Yesterday (Jan 30) Whitney's mother, Cissy, said that she believes the star's life would have turned out differently if she didn't marry singer Bobby Brown.
“I do believe her [Whitney's] life would have turned out differently,” Houston writes.
“It would have been easier for her to get sober and stay sober. Instead she was with someone who, like her, wanted to party. To me, he never seemed to be a help to her in the way she needed.”
The I will Always Love You singer drowned in the bathtub of a Beverly Hills hotel on February 11, 2012, aged 48.
Medical examiners revealed that heart disease and cocaine use were contributing factors to her passing.
