Idris Elba teases 'Luther' season five details

CONFIRMED: Idris Elba wil reprise the role of John Luther

IDRIS ELBA has shared new details about the upcoming fifth season of 'Luther', teasing a back-to-basics approach to the psychological crime drama.

“It’s classic Luther,” the Brit actor told the Radio Times.

“We’re not reinventing the wheel...There’s no point trying to make something unfamiliar.”

Elba has played homicide detective John Luther since the series first aired on BBC One in 2010. The last season was broadcast in 2015.

“I mean there is a lot of excitement about the characters that are in this one,” he explained.

“We’ll have to wait and see!”

According to the Evening Standard, Luther creator, Neil Cross, confirmed that season five would begin filming next year and spoke about what to expect.

“Now what? It’s a question Idris and I get asked a lot. What happened to John Luther after we last saw him striding unbowed through the streets of his city, his blood red London? It can’t be over, can it? There’s so much we don’t know. So much unfinished business.

“The thing is, we’ve been asking ourselves the same question. Because we love John and wonder what he’s up to. And as for me, I’m scared of the monsters. The face at the window. The hand under the bed. The shadow at the end of the street. Who’s going to stop them, if not John Luther.”
