JAMTV: The Caribbean channel's directors Ricado and Lillian Allen

A RECENTLY launched Caribbean television channel which already airs on Sky, Freesat and Freeview, will soon be launching on another platform to increase its viewership even more.

More than a year later since it's launch, weekend channel JamTV has continued to grow in popularity.

According to viewer statistics by the Broadcasters’ Audience Research Board (BARB), the niche television channel's viewership is constantly growing.

With its diverse demographic, JamTV has some No.1 shows including Dancin Dynamites and the weekly news.

Since May 2014, the channel has grown from first broadcasting on Sky 192 and Freesat 402 and then launched on Freeview 244.

To reach out to even more of the black community, JamTV is going to be launching on YouView - the BT and Talk Talk platform,

As part of its growth, it is moving channel from Saturday August 22, to Sky 261.

The Eutelsat 28A satellite also reaches parts of Europe such as Spain and Germany and they too are enjoying their weekend "slice of sunshine".

JamTV is currently collating a children's programme about Caribbean heritage called Kudos of the Diaspora.

Of the programme, the JamTV team said: "Children need to know their fore parents history told by the people themselves.

"We need it all documented for the sake of our children.

"We want our children to have knowledge of and appreciate the challenges you overcame to adapt to your new environment. This will help educate our generation of their heritage."

They added: "If you are a Caribbean migrant who came to England during the ‘Windrush’ era from 1948 onwards, we would like to speak to you."
