REMEMBERING: Janet Jackson has opened up about late singer Whitney Houston

JANET JACKSON has opened up about her relationship with Whitney Houston in a recent interview.

The All For You singer told American talkshow host, Anderson Cooper, that she would remember the late star, who died on February 11, as a 'sweet soul'.

"She was known as 'The Voice' and when she would open her mouth and this instrument would come out and you would obviously understand why," Jackson said.

She continued: "She was such a sweet, sweet soul especially back in the late 80s; early 90s is when I connected with Whitney the most. It didn't matter if we were doing an award show, we would always take the time out to find one another. Either she would come to my dressing room to say hi and I would be in make-up or I would find her to say hi in her dressing room."

"We would always find time to talk to one another. She was such a sweet soul."

Houston was found dead in the bathroom at the Beverly Hilton hotel on the eve of the Grammy awards.

Her cause of death is still unknown, although family sources claim they were told by the coroner's office that the 48-year-old singer may have died from a combination of Xanax and other prescription drugs, which had been mixed with alcohol, TMZ reported.

The I Will Always Love You songstress was laid to rest on Sunday following a funeral service, which was streamed live online.
