Jennifer Hudson: I’m so glad I quit Burger King!

MEMORIES: Jennifer Hudson

DREAMGIRLS STAR Jennifer Hudson has recalled the day she gave up her job at Burger King to pursue her dreams of musical stardom.

The 29-year-old singer and actress used to work at the fast food restaurant in her teens but quit the job in order to embark on a career in music.

“A long time ago, my only real job was working at Burger King,” Hudson told The Voice. “I quit working there when I was like 17, 18, and I said, ‘You know what? Forget this!’ I decided I wanted to make my living through my gifts and talents, and I feel blessed that I’ve been able to do that.”

The star, who won a best supporting actress Oscar for her role in 2006’s Dreamgirls, says that doing a job she loves is her greatest reward.

“I appreciate every award I’ve received, but just being able to get up every day and do what I love and have fans to share it with is the greatest reward. That’s why I always thank my fans for allowing me to live my dream. Doing what you want to do is my definition of a career.”
