Juror faces 3 years in jail for bribery in Vybz Kartel case

THE JUROR in the Vybz Kartel murder trial faces three years in jail if it is proven he attempted to bribe a fellow juror.

It is reported that the juror approached a female on the panel and offered her $500,000 to enter a not guilty verdict in the dancehall star's case.

The allegation was reported to court officials who informed prosecutors and the police of the incident.

The juror is facing a charge of attempting to pervert the course of justice and will appear in court today (March 17).

In the early hours of Thursday morning (March 13), Kartel along with three of his co-accused were found guilty of the murder of 27-year-old businessman Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams.

The Jamaican hitmaker, famed for songs such as Clarks and Rompin Shop was handed the news in the early hours of the morning.

A fourth man, Shane Williams, was found not guilty.

The verdict marked the end of a trial that has lasted 65 days - the longest of its kind in the Home Circuit Court in his native Jamaica.
