Justin Bieber South African concert earnings stolen

THIEVES IN South Africa have taken over one million rand (£70,000) earned from a Justin Bieber concert held in Johannesburg’s Soccer City stadium, according to local police.

The city’s authorities said the suspects were in a gang possessing ropes, chisels and hammers – they used their equipment to break their way into the venue’s secure room where the cash was being held.

Officials at the stadium – the same one in which the 2010 World Cup final was held – did not realise the cash had been taken until yesterday morning (May 13).

Police suspect the thieves spent several days chiselling their way through a wall, from the outside the complex.

Once through, the theory is that they used rope to lower themselves down into the cash room, and left the scene undetected.

“We don't know how many people were involved as we are still gathering evidence”, said a local police officer.

Katlego Mogale, a spokeswoman for the South African police, said: “The suspect had gained entry through the roof.

“They broke the tile of the bathroom between last night (Sunday) after the concert and this morning.”
