Kanye explains collection: Sweatshirts are f***ing important

HOMELESS CHIC: Kanye West stands with Yeezy 2 models

KANYE WEST'S newest fashion collection for Adidas was met with mixed reactions.

One of the biggest internet critiques of the Yeezy Season 2 collection was that it looked like it was ripped straight from the Star Wars galaxy, where others have labelled it "high-end hobo".

In an exclusive interview with Vanity Fair magazine the rapper explained the importance of his new collection - which mainly looked like sweatshirts and tattered tees and tights in varying shades of brown.

“I think sweatshirts are the way of the future,” West told Vanity Fair.

He said he knows people just want to wear yoga pants, legging, T-shirts and sweatshirts, and he’s just giving the people what they want but in his own unique way.

West is so obsessed with sweatshirts, he had to reiterate it. “Sweatshirts are f***ing important,” Ye continued after describing the production process for his Yeezy Season 2 sweatshirts.

“That might sound like the funniest quote ever. How can you say all this stuff about running for president in 2020 and then say sweatshirts are important? But they are. Just mark my words. Mark my words like Mark Twain.”

The father-of-one also revealed that he's already working on his next line, having started designing this latest collection just one day after he unveiled Season 1 last year.

"Right now I’m thinking about Season 3. It’s a long, long run. Unfortunately for me, I have a lot of visibility on my side which has tended to be a thing that creates a distraction to the creative process, like paparazzi showing up at my office in Calabasas.

"But I almost feel I’m growing just like my daughter. I hear my daughter start to say exactly what she wants and to finish sentences and I think it’s like that. Like, maybe I got to finish a couple more sentences in the second one than in the first one."
