Kenya to host 2012 sports summit

GOING FOR GOLD: David Rudisha

KENYA ARE to hold a sports summit to celebrate their involvement in London 2012. The day-long event will take place on August 9, at the official Kenya House in Stratford.

There will be speakers and exhibitors from a variety of organisations, including individuals from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and Athletics Kenya.

Sure to be discussed, is the country’s best medal hope, David Rudisha, the odds on favourite in the men’s 800m. The country's other genuine medal contenders include Mary Keitany and Brimin Kipruto, who are looking to medal in the marathon, and the 3,000 steeplechase respectively. The latter is trying to win a third consecutive Olympic gold medal.

The summit will also include discussion on investment opportunities in sports in Kenya and attendance by Team Kenya’s key sponsors, including Nike and Virgin.
