Kojo Funds takes fans on a tour of his town in new video

IN THE STUDIO: Kojo Funds lays down a new track

KOJO FUNDS invites fans to roam his city with him and learn about his roots in a new short film.

In the short film, which is in collaboration with Timberland, Kojo revisits key locations of his upbringing in Canning Town, east London, roaming the district and exploring his music roots. The film features the track Who am I, which will appear on Kojo Funds’ new mixtape Golden Boy, set to be released later this month.

In the video, Kojo showcases the community that shaped his cultural, musical and artistic development.

Starting on Freemason’s Road near where he grew up, the film follows the rising star of UK afro-swing as he lays down a track at a local studio and gets a fresh cut in the neighbourhood barbers, before relaxing and sharing stories with close friends he’s known since childhood.

Speaking about the project Kojo Funds said: “Collaborating with Cityroam to talk about my journey has been enlightening for me. I can see how the struggles and experiences I went through motivated me to work harder and led me to where I am now. When I was younger I would see my music idols wearing Timberland, so for me, it feels like I’ve come full circle.”

Kojo’s mixtape Golden Boy, including track Who Am I featuring Bugzy Malone, is released September 28.

The new Timberland Cityroam Alpine chukka, worn by Kojo in the film, is available online and in-stores now.

The brand describes the shoe as a “perfect fusion of Timberland’s iconic field boot heritage with outdoor utility innovation, ideal for urban roaming”.
