Lady Leshurr covers Gay Times & comes out as pansexual

SPEAKING OUT: Lady Leshurr

BIRMINGHAM RAPPER Lady Leshurr covers this months issue of Gay Times, and has opened up about her sexuality, being outed by an ex, pressure to stay in the closet and more.

The world exclusive interview is a monumental one for the Queen's Speech MC as she confirmed that she identifies as pansexual and says she's "happy she doesn't have to hide it anymore".

"I am free. In life you have to tell the truth, you have to feel comfortable in your own skin and now I feel so comfortable in my own skin,” she said.

“Life is all about growth, just developing and understanding yourself and being more confident. I understand feeling trapped, I understand feeling like you can’t be yourself. If you want to come out, you have to come out yourself. It’s not anybody’s place to out someone.”

“I remember searching on the internet ‘Lady Leshurr gay’ and ‘Lady Leshurr lesbian’ just to see what I used to put out back in 2008/2009, and I realised I was trying to come out but no one was giving me the ‘it’s fine, it’s okay to come out’.

The star also shared that she was outed by an ex, noting that “The way she outed me was quiet malice and she tried to out someone else out in the tweet as well" adding that she "don't think it was respectful at all."

"It was really mean. The thing is, people actually knew we were going out, it was just never confirmed. Initially, I thought I could ignore what she’s tweeted about me and just pretend like nothing’s happened and simply carry on doing my music, but then I thought no, I’m gonna actually turn this negative into a positive. I’ve grown so much since then and I learned from that whole situation.”

It has been rumoured that Lady Leshurr dated fellow rapper Paigey Cakey and the break up of their relationship sparked their feud.

Since her Gay Times cover went public, Leshurr has taken to Instagram and shared some heartfelt words with her followers, celebrating that she is "pansexual and proud" and was largely inspired by R&B signer Kehlani who helped publicly shed light on what it means to be pansexual.

"Pansexual & proud!! It’s taken me almost a decade to realise that i’m attracted to the aura, the energy, the connection, rather than the sex or gender identity. I’ve met guys and girls that have made me feel quite special. But the past few years i’ve realised i’m actually not attracted to a gender at all. I’m quite free & open about this now & i’ve never felt happier," leshurr wrote.

"judge me if you must but i will win my case in the long run. I understand now you have to be real with yourself to live your best life & i’ve never really spoken on my sexuality officially until now. I’m speaking for all the people that may feel confused or unsure with who they like or what they want but don’t worry!!! There’s many of you out there including me!!

"i was once like you & didn’t understand it, but by @kehlani shining light on the term pansexuality i realised it was more fitting to how i felt. Google the word you will understand more. Be proud of who you are. Always. The truth shall set you free ✨ go read my interview with @gaytimesmag now"
