AVAILABLE FOR SELECTION: Lawes
SECOND ROW Courtney Lawes is eager to return to the England squad and regain his position in the starting XV following a two-match ban.
The Northampton Saints player was suspended after a disciplinary panel found him guilty of striking Argentina hooker Mario Ledesma with his knee a few weeks ago.
But the 22-year-old is now available for Saturday’s (October 1) crunch Pool B World Cup tie against Scotland at Eden Park in Auckland, New Zealand.
Speaking about the incident that led to his suspension, the 6’ 7”, 18 stone Lawes said:
"I thought it was a bit harsh but what can you do? You just have to get on with it.
"In training I have to do whatever I can to try and get back into the team."
Capped 11 times by England, Lawes is known for his explosive tackles but insisted he is not a baleful player.
EXPLOSIVE: The 22-year-old (centre) has garnered a reputation as a powerful tackler
"It has never happened before. I didn't try and do anything malicious, I'm always physical but I don't aim to hurt people, that's just part of my game,” explained Lawes.
Following a narrow 13-12 defeat to Argentina on Sunday (September 25) Scotland have to beat England if they have any hope of reaching the quarter-final stage and Lawes expects them to hold nothing back.
"They will come out knowing they have to win and when they are up for a big game they are a very good team.
"But at the same time we have to win, we always feel like that, and we have to try and display our dominance."
