Lennox Lewis boxing clever for Canada

FORMER CHAMPION: Lennox Lewis

FORMER UNDISPUTED world heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis has teamed up with Global Legacy Boxing, founded by expat Les Woods to bring back big time boxing to Canada.

Their association with Groupe Yvon Michel (GYM) and Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE) sees the new collaboration proudly associated with the upcoming world title defence by Adonis 'Superman' Stevenson on September 11 at the Ricoh Coliseum in Toronto. His opponent will be Pennsylvania's Tommy 'Kryptonite' Karpency, and Stevenson's WBC, The Ring and linear light-heavyweight belts are on the line for the sixth time.

The event is part of the PBC series and the co-feature on the card is the current Canadian heavyweight champion, Dillon 'Big Country' Carman who takes on Lennox's old adversary, Jamaican born Donovan 'Razor' Ruddock.

"It's wonderful to be a part of GLB, working in conjunction with GYM and MLSE to revive boxing in Toronto and across Canada to the highest level," said Lewis.

"As the former undisputed heavyweight champion of the world, I am proud to be guiding a nationwide platform where boxers, such as world light-heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson, can showcase their talents at home and receive the support they deserve," added the former champion who defeated Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield, Vitali Klitschko and other iconic boxing names during his illustrious career.

Woods, originally from Clydebank, Scotland, and whose grandfather, Harry Woods was chief inspector of the British Boxing Board of Control said: "It is an immense privilege to be working with an icon such as Lennox and to be associated with GYM and MLSE.

"I am continuing the legacy created by my grandfather in reviving world class professional boxing in the wonderful city of Toronto."
