Lennox punches above his weight on rich list


FORMER UNDISPUTED heavyweight boxing champion Lennox Lewis was the highest ranked black person named on The Sunday Times sports rich list for 2013.

According to the publication, the 47-year-old three-time heavyweight champion of the world is worth £95 million and is ranked sixth on the list overall.

An Olympic gold medallist in 1988, Lennox is said to have earned over £84m during his pugilistic career of 44 professional fights and has an extra £11m in property assets.

Mercedes Formula One racer Lewis Hamilton is eighth on the list with £60m, which is a nine per cent increase of the £55m that he earned 2012.

The 28-year-old 2008 world champion has signed a three-year contract at the manufacturers said to be worth £15m a year with an extra £5m in bonuses.

Veteran Manchester United midfielder Ryan Giggs saw his fortune rise by £1m.
The 13-time Premier League winner is 26th on the list with £34m.

Team GB and Chicago Bulls basketballer Luol Deng has seen his stock increase from £23m to £28m from last year and is 39th on the list.
