THE LIFE of the New York Stock Exchange’s (NYSE) youngest female trader and the second ever black woman to work full-time on the floor is set to be turned into a film.

Lauren Simmons, 24, was the only full-time female broker on the NYSE floor when she started working at as an equity trader. She is also the only African American woman on the NYSE floor.

Actress Kiersey Clemons will play Simmons in the biopic.

Speaking to CNBC, Simmons said that Clemons’ involvement in the project influenced her to go ahead with AGC Studios.

She said: "I ultimately decided [on] AGC because of Kiersey.

"I got to meet Kiersey and felt she resembled me a lot. She has such a beautiful personality and she genuinely wanted to share my story. Out of everyone that I met, I knew that she would do it very [honestly], and not make it into a story that isn't true."

The Dope actress is also producing the film with her newly launched production company Girl on Mercury.

Clemons shared the news on Instagram.

She wrote: “I’ve birthed my production company, Girl on Mercury. What a blessing for this to be the first story I tell. The smart, sexy and sweet Lauren Simmons is allowing me to portray her on screen and tell her story. Yee hawwww b****!! New York Stock Exchange we have arrived.”

The film does not yet have a release date but Simmons says she hopes it will inspire others to pursue their dreams.

"If my story motivates other young women, and women of colour, then I'm absolutely honoured. I want my story to do that.

"I want there to be more success stories. I want to hear more women doing more things, especially being bold in male-dominated fields,” she told CNBC.
