Lil Wayne album to sell a million in a week?

SUCCESS: Lil Wayne

RAPPER LIL Wayne is expected to sell nearly a million copies of his latest album in its first week, outperforming Kanye West and Jay Z’s joint effort on Watch the Throne

The Billboard Charts have predicted that Tha Carter IV, which was released on Monday (Aug 29) will sell anywhere between 850,000 and 900,000 copies, while HITS Daily Double estimated sales of 975,000 copies and above on Friday (Sept 2).

In 2008 the 28-year-old's album Tha Carter III sold 1 million copies seven days after its release making it one of the fatest selling hip-hop albums of all time.

Wayne's manger, Mack Maine, told MTV News that despite the album's unfortunate leak prior to its release, he believed "we should still do well."

He said: "The leak shouldn't have affected it that much. Actually, this is the first time that the albums leaked so close [to the release date]. Tha Carter III leaked two weeks before and we still did [1 million] the first week. So if history repeats itself, we shouldn't have any problems."
