LIVERPOOL’S PERFECT start to the fledgling Premier League campaign with three wins out of three has seen forward Daniel Sturridge get the Barclays player of the month award.

In addition, the man behind the striker’s three goal-winning performances – Sturridge has bagged the only goals in Liverpool’s three 1-0 wins – Brendan Rodgers was handed manager of the month.

The 24-year-old former Chelsea and Manchester City forward scored a goal in each of Liverpool’s wins over Stoke, Aston Villa and Manchester United, marking the Reds’ best start to a season since 1994-95.

Sturridge withdrew from the England squad for the latest round of World Cup qualifiers against Moldova and Ukraine, and is considered a doubt for his club’s next match against Swansea on Monday.

Liverpool currently sit top of the table with nine points, two clear of Chelsea.

Last season Rodgers led the Merseyside club to a seventh place finish in the top flight, and fans are expecting a finish in the top four to get Champions League football, while the more ambitious may believe they could even be title contenders.
