Louis Saha sets up online career management business

BUSINESSMAN: Saha (PA)

LOUIS SAHA is following the example of many retired footballers, but stepping into the business forum by launching Axis Stars; the first-ever contract management and secure social network platform developed exclusively for sports athletes and professionals.

The former Manchester United striker has teamed up with IT Executive Patrice Arnera and Mike Farnan, the former Managing Director of Manchester United International.

The aim of the site is to aid members by allowing them to communicate and share knowledge and information regarding things such as insurance, finance and sponsorship.

Saha said: “I would have loved to be able to master my job better when I was playing but now I’ve retired, I still have a huge role to play sharing my experience with young players.

“I wish I had a platform like this as a player; it would have helped me manage my career and plan for the future a lot better. This is why Axis Stars is designed to not only help active professional players and athletes but also those in their post-career.

“The aim is to help drastically reduce the terrifying statistics which show that around 50 per cent of sports professionals go bankrupt after retirement. I am more proud of this incredible project than all of my achievements on the pitch.”

Axis Stars already have some high profile users; among them Chelsea legend Didier Drogba; Saha's former United team-mate Phillip Neville and Robert Pires. As well as National Basketball Association players Nicolas Batum and Boris Diaw.

Despite it being a business ventures, the men are well aware of their social responsibilities and will donate 10 per cent of profits to charity organisations chosen by it's members.

Farnan added: “I’m really looking forward to working with Louis and his team on Axis Stars. This is something unique; it has never been done before in this field. We have already had huge interest and sign ups from major stars in football, NBA, boxing and motorsport, and it’s clear Louis has put his experience in professional sport to great use in developing this platform.

“There is a real gap in the market for this product to assist both active and retired sports professionals.”
