Man charged with murder of east London teen in Malia

FATALLY STABBED: Tyrell Matthews-Burton

A MAN has been charged with the murder of an east London teenager who was stabbed while on holiday in Malia earlier this week.

Myles Litchmore-Dunbar, 19, is accused of killing Tyrell Matthews-Burton, from Leyton, outside a bar in the resort of Malia. He is also charged with possession of a weapon.

More than a dozen British tourists have appeared in court on the Greek island in connection with the mass brawl, which led to Matthews-Burton, 19, being pinned down and knifed in the chest and back.

Police in on the holiday island have attributed the murder to gang violence between rival groups in Britain.

Yannis Phillipakis, a police officer from Heraklion, Crete told the Daily Mail: "Unofficially, what we are hearing is that they brought their gang warfare to Crete."

Malia has recently become one the most popular destinations in the region for young British tourists – the Foreign Office estimates about two million people travel annually from the UK travel to Greece.
