COVICTED: Sodiq Adeojo

A MAN has been sentenced to thirty years for murder of 17-year-old Sylvester Akapalara.

Sodiq Adeojo, 20, was found guilty of killing the teenager, who was found in a stairwell on the Pelican estate in Peckham, south east London, on December 29 last year suffering from gunshot wounds in the neck and chest.

Two friends who were with the victim at the time of the incident were stabbed as they tried to escape through the main door of the block of flats, which was guarded by part of the group of youths.

Adeojo, who is also from Peckham, was convicted of two counts of attempted murder and possession of a knife and a gun last year, and received his sentence at the Old Bailey this morning.

The suspect's 18-year-old brother Qudus and a 16-year-old, were cleared by the jury of all charges.
