DESTINY'S CHILD singer Michelle Williams has spoken out about her mental health struggles.

The 37-year-old said she sought help after previously revealing she battled with feeling "depressed" and "suicidal".

In an Instagram post, Williams said that as a mental health awareness advocate, she "listened to the same advice" she's given to others.

"For years I've dedicated myself to increasing awareness of mental health and empowering people to recognise when it's time to seek help, support and guidance from this that love and care for your wellbeing," she wrote.

"I recently listened to the same advice I have given to thousands around the world and sought help from great team of healthcare professionals.

"Today I proudly, happily and heartily stand here as someone who will continue to always lead by example as I tirelessly advocate for the betterment of those in need."

Since publishing the post, Williams has received hundreds of support of messages, including from Missy Elliot and original Destiny's Child member LaTavia Roberson.

Missy Elliott tweeted: "I want to lift our sis up in prayer because there are so many people battling this and many trying to deal with it alone. Let's keep the ones who are openly dealing with it uplifted and be encouraging to them".

She first revealed her battle with mental health in an interview on US talk show The Talk in October 2017, where she said "for years, I'm in one of the top-selling female groups of all time suffering with depression" and "it got really, really bad, to the point of being suicidal."

It was reported by TMZ that Williams has since checked herself into a mental health facility in California.
