Miss World Kenya stripped from title over 'grave situation'

SUSPENDED: Miss World Kenya Roshanara Ebrahim

A KENYAN beauty queen has been stripped of her title after pageant officials accused her of breaching the code conduct.

Roshanara Ebrahim, who was named Miss World Kenya 2016, was suspended indefinitely and will not represent the country at the Miss World contest scheduled for later this year.

“A grave situation has come to our attention that is in breach of our Code of Conduct and our contract with the reigning Miss World Kenya 2016 Roshanara," a statement confirming the suspension said.

"We uphold a strict code of conduct that expects Beauty Queens to manage their public and private life."

The beauty queen responded to her suspension and said: “It is with great sadness that I accept the decision of Miss World Kenya office to relinquish me of my duties as Miss World Kenya 2016. I urge aspiring beauty queens to ensure their personal life does not affect their role as Miss World Kenya. I wish my successor the best as we look to clinching top position in the Miss World competition later in the year”.

Miss World Kenya office said the organisation will announce Ebrahim’s successor in due course.

According to local reports in Kenya, beauty queen was romantically involved with a parliamentarian - allegations that she has previously denied.
