ISSUES: More trials and tribulations for Vybz Kartel

THE DRUG trial of embattled dancehall entertainer Vybz Kartel has been proposed until March 14.

The 36-year-old, real name is Adidja Palmer, was told of the delay when he appeared before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday, following possession of ganja charge brought against him.

Kartel was offered $40,000 bail but could not take it up because of other charges he is facing for which he has not been able to secure bail.

According to police reports, Palmer and some of his associates were accosted in a hotel room in New Kingston last September.

The police say a quantity of ganja was found in the room, but have not disclosed the exact amount.

Kartel is expected to return to court later this year on other charges including two counts of murder and conspiracy to pervert the courts of justice.
