HEALTH RUMOURS: Muhammad Ali
FOLLOWING THE news over the weekend that Muhammad Ali’s health had taken a turn for the worse, one of his relatives has dispelled rumours that the heavyweight great could pass away anytime soon.
Ali’s brother Rahman had previously told The Sun that the former three-time heavyweight world champion was “days away from death”.
However, Ali was pictured by his daughter Laila watching the NFL Super Bowl whilst wearing a Baltimore Ravens Ray Lewis t-shirt on February 3.
May May, another one of his daughters, said: “He's fine, in fact he was talking well this morning. These rumours pop up every once in a while but there's nothing to them."
Ali, known as ‘The Greatest’, was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 1984, but has remained active for many years.
In December 2011, however, he was taken to hospital after collapsing at his home in Arizona.
The iconic sportsman made a special public appearance at the London 2012 Olympic opening ceremony last summer where his ill-health was visible.
Looking particularly thin and frail, Ali had to be helped across the stage by his wife Lonnie.
