Murphy back on the beat

BEVERLY HILLS COP: Eddie Murphy to reprise famed role in new TV show

EDDIE MURPHY is to reprise his role as Axel Foley in Beverly Hills Cop for a new TV series.

The new show, which is scheduled for release later this year after getting the green light from CBS, will feature Foley's son called Aaron who is played by actor Brandon T Jackson.

As with the hit 1984 Hollywood film, Foley Jr will take on criminals targeting the rich and famous in Beverly Hills.

Apart from voicing the hugely successful Shrek movies, Murphy has not appeared in a hit film since 2006 when he was nominated for an Oscar for Dreamgirls.

His most recent effort A Thousand Words made only $40m at the box office- half of what it cost to produce.

Murphy is acting as executive producer of the Beverly Hills Cop TV series.
