NBA's Kevin Durant on the move

NBA STAR Kevin Durant will join Golden State Warriors after a nine-year stint at Oklahoma City Thunder, the player has announced.

27-year-old Durant, who is a four-time league scoring champion and seven-time All-Star, is expected to join on a two-year contract worth $54.3 (around £41m).

On Monday he said in an article on the Players’ Tribune website that it has been the most challenging few weeks in his professional life – and that he was at a crossroads, as a player and a man.

He added: "The primary mandate I had for myself in making this decision was to have it based on the potential for my growth as a player – as that has always steered me in the right direction.

"But I am also at a point in my life where it is of equal importance to find an opportunity that encourages my evolution as a man: moving out of my comfort zone to a new city and community which offers the greatest potential for my contribution and personal growth.

"With this in mind, I have decided that I am going to join the Golden State Warriors."

Durant joins a Warriors side that won the NBA title two years ago and finished runners up this time out – recording 73 wins out of the 82-game regular season.
