Netballers in search of glory

ON COURSE FOR THE SEMIS: England's netballers

ENGLAND ARE through to the quarter-finals at the World Netball Championships in Singapore, after beating Malawi, Barbados and Malaysia in their group stage fixtures.

England now face Northern Ireland for a place in the semi-finals and a potential clash with New Zealand.

Next up for Sue Hawkins’ side is familiar opposition in the guise of Northern Ireland on Friday morning.

Head coach and co-captain Karen Atkinson is delighted with her team’s form.

Atkinson was again part of a fantastic mid-court which controlled the match and she admitted that the team were happy with the result and the performance.

“We played better than the last couple of games; it was basically putting more consistent quarters together.

“We are also pleased with what we put out there, people were making better decisions and the work rate lifted a lot more so it was really good”.
