New gospel festival to launch during Black History Month

HEAVENLY VOCALS: Singer Sarah Teibo will be performing at The Fri:d3m Festival

BRITISH GOSPEL label Zoe Records will be hosting its first ever gospel music festival next month.

Called The Fri:d3m Festival, it is scheduled to take place from October 13-15 at ARC, (A Radical Church) in London's E7, in time for Black History Month and will feature leading British, African and American gospel artists.

The festival will also feature performances by 30 young people who attended a summer school run by Zoe Gospel in August, where they were taught to sing and rap in the gospel style.

Each night of The Fri:d3m Festival will have a different musical theme to reflect the diverse nature of gospel music in the 21st century. Genres that will be showcased include African praise, hip-hop, afrobeat, gospel soul, grime, gospel R&B and traditional gospel.

Artists scheduled to perform at the Fri:d3m Festival include MOBO-nominated Volney Morgan and New Ye, award-winners Sarah Teibo and JayEss, afrobeat artist Andrew Bello and many others who are yet to be confirmed. There’ll also be special appearances Ayan Jesu from Nigeria and US gospel sensation Professor Wilbur Belton, who is also Tye Tribbett’s uncle.
