Nicki Minaj accused of faking her VMA wardrobe malfunction

PUBLICITY STUNT?: Rapper Nicki Minaj on the red carpet at this year's MTV Video Music Awards

RAPPER NICKI Minaj's wardrobe malfunction was certainly one of the highlights of this year's MTV Video Music Awards.

While on stage performing the rapper was forced to clutch at her black velvet dress to avoid exposing her whole cleavage after the zip on her outfit slid all the way down.

Minaj, 31, claimed that she didn’t have enough time to zip up her dress when she rushed directly from her Anaconda performance into her Bang Bang performance with Jessie J and Ariana Grande at the MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday (Aug 24).

But according to TMZ, the rapper was reportedly spotted awkwardly holding that very same dress together during a rehearsal before the show.

OOPS: The rapper's dress split while she performed on stage

“One eyewitness says it caught her eye because she initially thought Nicki had come out in a robe,” the site reported. “We’re told Nicki was wrapping her arms around the dress in a ‘weird’ sort of way … trying to manipulate it to see how much would be exposed.”

When the rapper, real name Onika Maraj, was asked after the show what went wrong with her performance ensemble, she responded by saying, “We ran out of time getting the dressed zipped up.”

The Trinidadian star later took to her Instagram, where she said she was thrilled to have avoided a nip slip. She said: “God is good. As long as a nipple didn’t come out to play, I’m fine.”
