Nicki Minaj denies Kanye West's 'white wife' criticism

CRITICISM: Nicki Minaj

RAP QUEEN Nicki Minaj has hit back at headlines which claimed that she slammed fellow rapper Kanye West over his marriage to Kim Kardashian.

The New York performer who graces the cover of Marie Claire this month discussed a number of topical issues which included an apparent trend of successful black men who marry white women.

In the article, Minaj said: “I’m so tired of black women feeling that when our men get rich, they’re going to leave them for a woman of a different race.

"It wasn’t funny when Kanye said [in Gold Digger], ‘When he get on, he’ll leave your a** for a white girl’, and Kanye happens to be with a white girl now. It wasn’t funny when he said it; it was the f***ing truth.”

HAPPILY MARRIED: Kanye West with wife Kim Kardashian

Minaj has since backtracked on her comments to clarify that they were in no way an attack on West’s marriage to the reality star who was recently rocked by an armed robbery during her stint at Paris Fashion Week.

The Moment for Life performer took to Twitter to write: “"Slams" a man/genius who gave me one of the biggest looks of my career? I said he wasn't kidding, he was speaking the TRUTH about d industry.”

She added: “I was saying he's the one who said it first. He doesn't apologize for his choices. He tells the truth about stuff ppl don't wanna hear!”

The cover star referenced Kardashian further in her interview when discussing sexuality and the challenges of double standards in the entertainment industry.

She told the magazine: “When Kim Kardashian’s naked picture came out, Sharon Osbourne praised it, and my fans attacked her for being such a hypocrite,” she recalled.

“So it wasn’t trashy and raunchy when a white woman did it, but it was when a black woman did it? It’s quite pathetic and sad, but that is my reality, and I’ve gotten accustomed to just shutting it down.”
