No Christmas cheer for Villa striker

INJURY WOES: Bent

ASTON VILLA forward Darren Bent will miss his club’s matches during the Christmas period after suffering a hamstring injury against Norwich City on December 11.

The England international limped off during the League Cup tie, which was his first start in six weeks, and then underwent a scan on December 12.

Villa manager Paul Lambert said that Bent, 28, will be out of action "for a few weeks”.

"He went for a scan on Wednesday and he has got a problem with his hamstring which will keep him out for a few weeks,” said the Scotsman.

When asked if Bent will miss the Christmas fixtures, he added: "Yes, probably, the way it is looking, yes. I think a few weeks. Maybe four weeks, I'd say, before we see him back."
