Northampton firms urged to celebrate Queen’s Jubilee

EVENTS: Councillor wants to raise profile of Northampton

NORTHAMPTON BOROUGH Council Leader David Mackintosh has written to businesses urging them to join in the Jubilee celebrations.

The Council has recently put up 3,000 metres of bunting across the town centre as part of preparations for the event. There is also free parking provided in all Council car parks on Bank Holiday Monday and Tuesday (June 4 and 5).

In his letter, Councillor Mackintosh asked businesses to join in by also decking out their premises so Northampton becomes a blaze of red, white and blue.

OPPORTUNITY

He said: ‘We have a great summer of events in Northampton. Not just the Queen’s Jubilee but the Olympic Torch Relay will also pass through the town. This is a great opportunity to attract people into the town centre and bring more money into the local economy.

‘I hope local businesses will join in the celebrations, helping us make the most of this opportunity to raise Northampton’s profile and encourage future investment.’

Immediately after the Jubilee weekend, the flags will come down and be replaced with bunting celebrating the Olympics and the arrival of the Torch Relay, which will pass through the town on July 2.
