Obama Fried Chicken anyone?

SPOOF: A Chinese KFC imitation called Obama Fried Chicken with Barack Obama's face and name has been causing controversy in the US

A NEW chicken shop named after US President Barack Obama has caused outrage in America.

Beijing's Obama Fried Chicken, which in addition to using the President's name, has an image of him plastered in the same style as the Kentucky Fried Chicken's (KFC) founder, Colonel Sanders, has been labeled "offensive" by vexed residents.

"It's insulting, offensive and plays to racial stereotypes," Reverend Al Sharpton told The New York Post.

"What makes it even worse is that when we deal with this global competition between the US and China, for them to be mocking the leader of the free world, I find it even more appalling," he added.

A spokesperson for KFC China told the Washington Post that Obama Fried Chicken is not affiliated with the brand.

"We're considering legal action as it is a knock-off and has nothing to do with us and it infringes on our brand trademark," the statement said.

"We find it distasteful," it continued.
