Olympic boxer Anthony Joshua launches management agency

NEW VENTURE: Anthony Joshua

HEAVYWEIGHT BOXER Anthony Joshua MBE has announced the launch of his management agency AJ Boxing Management.

The business will exclusively represent all of Joshua’s sporting and commercial commitments in and out of the ring, according to the Sports Industry Group.

Joshua, who recently signed a new exclusive three-year promotional deal with Matchroom, is quickly becoming recognised as the face of British boxing.

Outside of the ring, the 26-year-old followed in the path of Lennox Lewis to front high-street brand French Connection’s ‘FCUK FEAR’ campaign.

The Olympic gold medallist, who remains undefeated after 14 professional bouts, commented: “I am really excited to be moving to the next stage in my professional career. It feels like the right time to take control of all my professional and commercial commitments with a core group of people who have been with me for a long time and I trust fully.

"I would like to thank my previous agencies for all the work they have put in over the years, I have learned a lot and hope to put it all in to practice with AJ Boxing Management.”

Details of the new venture includes an elite team of management professionals who all expressed a desire to see Joshua’s business prospects extend beyond his boxing talent.

Seyi Alabi, appointed company director, said: “This is a very important moment for Anthony, both in a sporting and professional sense. It certainly feels like the correct time for him to be launching AJ Boxing Management. We will work hard behind the scenes to make sure that commercially we can keep pace with his rapid progress in the ring.”

The company’s commercial manager, Freddie Cunningham, who said: “Our remit will be to work with Anthony’s existing commercial partners and training team to make sure everything is being run to the highest of standards. We will also be responsible for seeking out new opportunities and business development for Anthony.”

Both men have represented and worked with Joshua for a number of years.

Company co-founder Andy Bell added: “We are thrilled to be working with Anthony, he is in a small group of professional athletes who can truly transcend their sport and become part of popular culture and we look forward to helping him with his journey.”

The man of the hour shared the news with supporters via Twitter writing: “I am really excited to announce that I have created my own management company!”

Joshua is scheduled to go head to head with amateur rival Dillian Whyte for the British and Commonwealth title at the sold-out fight on December 12 at The O2 in London.
