Osagie only Brit through in 800m

HEADING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION: Osagie

TEAM GB two-lap runner Andrew Osagie was the only home nation 800m competitor to qualify for the semi-finals on August 7.

The 24-year-old finished third in heat two in a time of 1minute 46.42 seconds to reach the next round.

However, his team-mates Michael Rimmer and Gareth Warburton crashed out as they both crossed their finish line in fifth place in their respective heats.

Reigning world champion and the current world record holder, Kenya’s David Rudisha, won Osagie’s heat in a time of 1.45.90.

Rudisha is an odds-on favourite to win Olympic gold in the final on August 9.
