Oscar-nominated Ruth Negga to attend Screen Nation Awards

SHINING LIGHTS: Ruth Negga is up for a Screen Nation Award this year

ACKNOWLEDGED BY the industry as ‘the’ media event for diverse talent, the Screen Nation Film & Television Awards (also dubbed the ‘black BAFTAS’), has announced its first lineup of nominees and invited celebrity guests to attend this year’s celebration.

Marking 2017 as its 12th anniversary, the Screen Nation Film & Television Awards will pay homage to the very best culturally diverse talent working within the UK and international film, broadcast and entertainment industry.

BBC London News’ arts correspondent, Brenda Emmanus will host this year's award ceremony on Sunday 7 May from 5pm to 1am at the Park Plaza London Riverbank hotel.

Ruth Negga, who is up for the Female Performance in Film award, will be attending on the night, as will UK film veteran, BAFTA award-winning Brotherhood director Noel Clarke; who is up for the Male Performance in Film Screen Nation Award.

Organisers promise the event will be, "Glamour all the way, a lavish evening rewarding outstanding achievements on the British screen."

The Screen Nation Film & Television Awards was founded in 2003 by independent producer Charles Thompson MBE.
