BOOKMAKER PADDY Power has been branded “sick” after giving odds on late footballer Ugo Ehiogu replacing sacked Birmingham City manager Harry Redknapp.

Paddy Power offered 66/1 on the former Tottenham and England defender taking over from the recently fired Redknapp.

Other options were Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor (275-1) and rocker Ozzy Osbourne (2,500-1).

The odds sparked outrage across social media, with users taking screen shots of the page and branding it “sick” and “shameful behaviour".

One Twitter user said: "I know Paddy Power love 'a bit of banter', but surely putting Ugo Ehiogu on the odds for next Birmingham manager is too far."

Another commented: "New low for @PaddyPower Offering odds of 66-1 that Ugo Ehiogu will be next Birmingham manager - Ehiogu died in April!|

Ehiogu died age 44, after suffering a cardiac arrest on April 20 at Tottenham’s training ground, where he worked as a coach with their under-23 side.

The bookmaker has apologised for what they describe as a "genuine error."

“This was a genuine error, a trader re-used an old market as a template for this one, and didn’t notice that Mr Ehiogu was included," they said in a statement to Press Association.

“Obviously, that was a mistake, one which was rectified as soon as it was spotted, within minutes.”
