BREAKS SILENCE: Pastor TD Jakes finally opens up about teenage daughter's pregnancy

BISHOP TD Jakes, pastor of one of America’s largest churches, has spoken about how he coped when his then teenage daughter revealed she was pregnant, nine years ago.

Speaking on Roland Martin Reports, Jakes shared his feelings upon first hearing the news.

“Shocked, crushed, emotionally devastated, and yet there was something down
inside of me and in her mother as well, that said ‘we have to rise above the trauma’," he said.

Jakes and his wife Serita decided that they would stand by their daughter, and put her first, despite the negative criticism they received once the news leaked out. His daughter, Sarah, who gave birth to a son, is now 23 and married.

Jakes said that it is important for pastors to reach out to teenage fathers and get them involved in the life of their child.

“I think whenever possible we should try to get the young man in,” he said.

He continued: “I think that we should try to get the family restored, but let’s not go back to the old days where just because you make a mistake you end up marrying somebody that you’re miserable with for 30 years.”

There cesspool dating centres and singles conferences in Church promoted by people like Jakes is leading young people into fornication and there unwanted teenage pregnancy. Therefore the teenage pregnancy of his teenage daughter is just a product of his own ministry.

In such a position i guess you feel all that he said and a good bit more but at the end of the day its your family whom you will be held to account for above whatever position you hold - a really good call Pastor and i really want to honour you for that as well as the wisdom of not forcing a marriage that may not be the best for either of the 2 involved... well done and i hope your church is all the more forgiving, gracious and kind as result..... 3 facets of behaviour that are not in big supply in all too many churches these days.

A man of God must be led by the spirit of God and who God has joined together let no man put asunder. This advice is encouraging the church and its people to just bring these teenage fathers in without the leading of God this could only result in disaster. The reason there is so much divorce in the Church is that Pastors like Jakes allow people to marry who without hearing a word from God. In a real Church where a Pastor is led by God there should be no divorces whatsoever. The fact is people like Jakes have forsaken the word of God and have become physiologist and motivational speakers and these concept and everything the stand for are contrary to the word of God
