MOVING STORY: Naomi Oni
ONE OF the world’s best plastic surgeons has offered their services for free to help reconstruct the face of a young woman from London who was the victim of a horrific acid attack.
Naomi Oni, 20, needed skin grafts after acid was thrown on her by a person wearing a veil covering their face after she got off of a bus in Dagenham, east London on December 30.
Oni was on her way home from her job at Victoria’s Secret in Westfields Shopping Centre in Stratford.
She received specialist treatment at Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford and top American cosmetic Doctor Cap Lesesne told The Standard that he was touched by Oni’s story and would help her for no fee.
“I have a young daughter and I was really moved by Naomi’s story. What kind of animal would do that?” said Dr Lesesne.
“This isn’t a case of me coming in and saying I can do it better but if there is anything I can do to compliment Naomi’s care then I’d like to see if I can help.”
He added: “Every time she looks in the mirror she is going to be reminded of the attack it is the surgeon’s job to try and help. She is a young woman, she is fragile right now. She is scared.
“But she lives in an open society and she can go on to lead a very fulfilling life.”
