I knew mark duggan and he was carrying a gun because his cousin was murdered 4 months before and he was scared for his life not because he was a gangster and wanted to go round shooting people...he was scared that the people who killed his cousin would come for him...mark was a loving father who was with his kids most of the time but he knew the police couldn't protect him but that doesn't mean he deserved to die by being shot down in cold blood....the police said they knew he had a gun so why go to arrest a man with a gun in a taxi in rush hour on a busy road why not wait till he was away from such a public place !! Even if he was carrying a gun... A lot of people do and im not saying its right, but they do because they feel they're threatened by they're community. I heard that the actual riot started because of a 16 year old girl that walked up to the police demanding to know why a man was shot in her area which is understandable, and they beat her up. Can't police execute an arrest on a person without it ending in them being shot and killed including a gangster with a long criminal record or not?

I understand it wasn't a shootout, though it is alleged Duggans had a gun. The justifiable reason for the fatal shooting is he had a gun. Lots of people who are stopped and are arrested by the police have guns, but most don't end in their deaths, why was this one any different.

What is the value of a person's life, criminal or not? Who are we to put any value on another's life? Everyone's life is valued the same and taking the life of another should not be taken so lightly, whether you are criminal or the police.

I am wondering if the police have become paranoid and complacent and their offence position is to SHOOT FIRST AND PERJURE LATER, IF NECESSARY.

and the list goes on... The common trend between these deaths is that there has been no riots.

Why has the community let this go without so much as a brick thrown?

Why does the community harbor the people that commit these atrocities?

The communities keeps saying; "Yeah but it's not just black boys", which they are entitled to do but people need to realise that you have to take responsible for what is yours and not try to deflect to someone/ thing else.

My challenge to the community is to riot everytime a black boy is lost by another black boy, give up the criminal and get them out of the community.

This is typical of the black community in the UK these days. This man had 'form', a rap sheet as long as your arm and his family still have the gall to claim he was 'just a family man'. Nonsense.

On the one hand the community is up in arms about the youth killing each other, knife & gun crime, and always whining that the police never do anything, and then when they actually do something (and yes, that involves stop & search) the community whines about that too. You can't have it both ways.

What this issue is really about is fathers staying put and taking responsibility, and a complete failure of parenting.

The community continues to be in denial about the problems afflicting it, ie the vast majority of gun & knife crime is committed by black youth, and if you want it stopped, then don't tie the hands of police and stop sticking up for your wayward kids!!

I would like to know what charge are they going to give to the police officer who shot dead the young man in london. time and time again, we heard about this shooting to our black man/ woman, and nothing has been done. we need the police officers to be accountable for thier actions. this has to stop.

Well as we are being asked to put our trust in the British Judicial System. It is only right to assume that the person who fired the fatal shot will be charged with Murder, as any other member of the public would.I trust we can also assume that all those who stood by and allowed this Murder to happen will be charged under the Joint enterprise law which again would be used against the general public.
